Student of the Month: Isaac Aguila
Congratulations to our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Adult Student of the Month Isaac Aguila!
Hi Isaac, please tell us a little bit about yourself.
At the moment, I reside in Baldwin Park and I also grew up in Baldwin Park. I recently graduated from high school. I am currently not working.
What classes do you take and what got you interested?
I am enrolled in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class. My dad Ismael told me to try Jiu-Jitsu in the spring of 2015 at Old Town Fight Club. I love it ever since. I also have experience in Muay Thai.
How long have you been training and what is your current Jiu-Jitsu belt rank?
I have been training for a little over 3 years now and I am currently a Blue Belt with 3 stripes.
What is your favorite part of the Jiu-Jitsu class?
My favorite part of Jiu-Jitsu class is learning some new and exciting Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu techniques.
How would you describe your Jiu-Jitsu style? Do you prefer to guard pass or play guard? Do you consider yourself a scrambler or do you like to have your grips etcetera exactly in place before you engage?
I love to guard pass and above although I consider myself a scrambler in some situations and I do love to have the grips etc. in place. I love the techniques available in Jiu-Jitsu and I try to do them all if I get the chance.
What current and future goals do you have?
My Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu goals are to show up to class more than I usually do next to, getting ready for the SJJIF World Championship in October in Long Beach.
