Congratulations to our Student of the Month: Ally!
Hi Ally, can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am 13 years old and my hobbies include skateboarding, Jiu-Jitsu, and color-guard. I am the youngest of four siblings.
What is the reason you started training Jiu-Jitsu?
I started training Jiu-Jitsu because my dad was already in Jiu-Jitsu and one day I decided to try it myself because I thought it looked like lots of fun.
When did you start training Jiu-Jitsu and how often do you come to class?
I started training Jiu-Jitsu last May, and now I come 2 to 3 days a week.
What is your favorite thing about Jiu-Jitsu class?
My favorite thing about Jiu-Jitsu is learning new moves like how to do different submissions and takedowns, and I like learning about the history of Jiu-Jitsu.
What do you like most about Professor Gino’s teachings?
What I like most about Professor Gino’s teaching is how he shows us the thought process between the moves and what we are learning.
Questions for Ally’s dad Monty:
What improvements have you noticed in Ally since she’s been practicing Jiu-Jitsu?
I have noticed an all-around improvement in the way Ally behaves. Both at home and in public. She has much more confidence and resilience.
You, Ally & her cousins do Jiu-Jitsu together, how has that been going and do you practice together at home?
It’s great to have all of the kids involved because we get to do this together. It’s a family sport now and it’s quality time spending together. We do little drills and practice some light techniques in our living room sometimes.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
I would say that Jiu-Jitsu is an activity that will show you that you can overcome things you never thought you could have or even imagined at one time, and all it takes is for you to keep showing up and stepping on the mat. I also would like to say congratulations to Ally! I am really proud of you!
Ally’s Dad Monty is proud of his daughter.
Monty, Ally and her two cousins share Jiu-Jitsu as a family activity and it is considered quality time for them. Monty finds that Jiu-Jitsu shows them overcome obstacles that they never have even imagined before.
Challenge yourself by trying Jiu-Jitsu and be surprised by how it will benefit you. Read about our previous kids/teen student of the month Alex or request a Free Week Trial now.
