Student of the Month: Ian K. (Jiu-Jitsu Kids)
Congratulations to our kids’ BJJ student of the month: Ian!
Ian K. is in our kids’ Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at Silanoe Martial Arts.
Special thanks also go out to Ian’s mom, Frances, who helped us with Ian’s interview.
Hi Ian, why did you start training Jiu-Jitsu?
The reason that I started training Jiu-Jitsu is that I wanted to learn it. I like Ninjas and Ninjas do Martial Arts.
Can you please tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am 7 years old almost. My favorite food is ice cream cake. I like LEGOs.
When did you start training Jiu-Jitsu and how often do you come to class?
I started training in December 2017 and practice 2 days a week in the kids class.
What is your favorite thing about Jiu-Jitsu class?
My favorite thing about the class is learning the techniques to protect myself. For example, if someone is above me I can shrimp under their legs and escape!
What do you like most about Professor Gino’s teachings?
What I like most about Professor Gino’s teachings is that he is very knowledgeable. He makes learning fun.
Questions for Frances:
What improvements have you noticed in Ian since he has been doing Jiu-Jitsu?
Ian can tie his own belt. Ian has improved with sparring. We can see him being more confident. He likes being more active since he joined the class.
Is there anything else you would like to share with our readers?
We hope Ian continues with the training.
